God Blesses Singapore, Just Like Every Nation
Today, as Singapore celebrates its 60th National Day, we rightfully give thanks for the many gifts our nation has received - peace, prosperity, racial harmony, and strong institutions that serve the common good. The transformation from a small trading port to a thriving modern society is indeed remarkable, and we can see God's providence at work in our history. Yet as we celebrate these particular achievements, we must remember that divine love extends far beyond our shores. The Almighty bestows unique talents, cultures, and peoples upon every country on earth, each reflecting different aspects of His infinite creativity and care.
This National Day, as we watch the fireworks and sing our anthem, let us also remember that we are all God's children - Singaporeans, Malaysians, Americans, Europeans, Africans, and every other nationality. The same Creator who has granted Singapore peace has called all humanity to live in harmony with one another. In a world where wars still rage and collaboration often gives way to conflict, our success in building a multicultural society becomes not just a national achievement, but a witness to what is possible when people choose cooperation over division. Our festivities today should inspire us to pray for those countries experiencing strife, and to use our advantages, whether as individuals or as a community, to be peacemakers in our neighbourhoods and beyond.
As we celebrate today, may Singaporeans use our prosperity to serve others, and may people everywhere choose unity over division, hope over despair. Happy 60th Birthday Singapore - you're looking as young as ever!
